34:1I will bless Jehovah at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 34:2My soul shall make her boast in Jehovah: The meek shall hear thereof, and be glad. 34:3Oh magnify Jehovah with me, And let us exalt his name together. 34:4I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. 34:5They looked unto him, and were radiant; And their faces shall never be confounded. 34:6This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. 34:7The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them. 34:8Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good: Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him. 34:9Oh fear Jehovah, ye his saints; For there is no want to them that fear him. 34:10The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing. 34:11Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah. 34:12What man is he that desireth life, And loveth [many] days, that he may see good? 34:13Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile. 34:14Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it. 34:15The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are [open] unto their cry. 34:16The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 34:17[The righteous] cried, and Jehovah heard, And delivered them out of all their troubles. 34:18Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit. 34:19Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all. 34:20He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken. 34:21Evil shall slay the wicked; And they that hate the righteous shall be condemned. 34:22Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned. 35:1Strive thou, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me: Fight thou against them that fight against me. 35:2Take hold of shield and buckler, And stand up for my help. 35:3Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that pursue me: Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. 35:4Let them be put to shame and brought to dishonor that seek after my soul: Let them be turned back and confounded that devise my hurt. 35:5Let them be as chaff before the wind, And the angel of Jehovah driving [them] on. 35:6Let their way be dark and slippery, And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them. 35:7For without cause have they hid for me their net [in] a pit; Without cause have they digged [a pit] for my soul. 35:8Let destruction come upon him unawares; And let his net that he hath hid catch himself: With destruction let him fall therein. 35:9And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah: It shall rejoice in his salvation. 35:10All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, Who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, Yea, the poor and the needy from him that robbeth him? 35:11Unrighteous witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I know not. 35:12They reward me evil for good, [To] the bereaving of my soul. 35:13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I afflicted my soul with fasting; And my prayer returned into mine own bosom. 35:14I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother: I bowed down mourning, as one that bewaileth his mother. 35:15But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: The abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew [it] not; They did tear me, and ceased not: 35:16Like the profane mockers in feasts, They gnashed upon me with their teeth. 35:17Lord, how long wilt thou look on? 36:1The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes. 36:2For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated. 36:3The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He hath ceased to be wise [and] to do good. 36:4He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; He setteth himself in a way that is not good; He abhorreth not evil. 36:5Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the skies. 36:6Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; Thy judgments are a great deep: O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast. 36:7How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings. 36:8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. 36:9For with thee is the fountain of life: In thy light shall we see light. 36:10Oh continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee, And thy righteousness to the upright in heart. 36:11Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away. 36:12There are the workers of iniquity fallen: They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise. 37:1Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, Neither be thou envious against them that work unrighteousness. 37:2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. 37:3Trust in Jehovah, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on [his] faithfulness. 37:4Delight thyself also in Jehovah; And he will give thee the desires of thy heart. 37:5Commit thy way unto Jehovah; Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass. 37:6And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, And thy justice as the noon-day. 37:7Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 37:8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: Fret not thyself, [it tendeth] only to evil-doing. 37:9For evil-doers shall be cut off; But those that wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land. 37:10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be. 37:11But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 37:12The wicked plotteth against the just, And gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 37:13The Lord will laugh at him; For he seeth that his day is coming. 37:14The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay such as are upright in the way. 37:15Their sword shall enter into their own heart, And their bows shall be broken. 37:16Better is a little that the righteous hath Than the abundance of many wicked. 37:17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; But Jehovah upholdeth the righteous. 37:18Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect; And their inheritance shall be for ever. 37:19They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil; And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 37:20But the wicked shall perish, And the enemies of Jehovah shall be as the fat of lambs: They shall consume; In smoke shall they consume away. 37:21The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again; But the righteous dealeth graciously, and giveth. 37:22For such as are blessed of him shall inherit the land; And they that are cursed of him shall be cut off. 37:23A man`s goings are established of Jehovah; And he delighteth in his way. 37:24Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For Jehovah upholdeth him with his hand. 37:25I have been young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread. 37:26All the day long he dealeth graciously, and lendeth; And his seed is blessed. 37:27Depart from evil, and do good; And dwell for evermore. 37:28For Jehovah loveth justice, And forsaketh not his saints; They are preserved for ever: But the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. 37:29The righteous shall inherit the land, And dwell therein for ever. 37:30The mouth of the righteous talketh of wisdom, And his tongue speaketh justice. 37:31The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide. 37:32The wicked watcheth the righteous, And seeketh to slay him. 37:33Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged. 37:34Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, And he will exalt thee to inherit the land: When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. 37:35I have seen the wicked in great power, And spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil. 37:36But one passed by, and, lo, he was not: Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. 37:37Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; For there is a [happy] end to the man of peace. 37:38As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together; The end of the wicked shall be cut off. 37:39But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah; He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. 37:40And Jehovah helpeth them, and rescueth them; He rescueth them from the wicked, and saveth them, Because they have taken refuge in him. 39:1I said, I will take heed to my ways, That I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, While the wicked is before me. 39:2I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; And my sorrow was stirred. 39:3My heart was hot within me; While I was musing the fire burned: [Then] spake I with my tongue: 39:4Jehovah, make me to know mine end, And the measure of my days, what it is; Let me know how frail I am. 39:5Behold, thou hast made my days [as] handbreadths; And my life-time is as nothing before thee: Surely every man at his best estate is altogether vanity. 47:1Oh clap your hands, all ye peoples; Shout unto God with the voice of triumph. 47:2For Jehovah Most High is terrible; He is a great King over all the earth. 47:3He subdueth peoples under us, And nations under our feet. 47:4He chooseth our inheritance for us, The glory of Jacob whom he loved. Selah 48:9We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of thy temple. 48:10As is thy name, O God, So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: Thy right hand is full of righteousness. 48:11Let mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice, Because of thy judgments. 48:12Walk about Zion, and go round about her; Number the towers thereof; 48:13Mark ye well her bulwarks; Consider her palaces: That ye may tell it to the generation following. 48:14For this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide [even] unto death. 49:1Hear this, all ye peoples; Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world, 49:2Both low and high, Rich and poor together. 49:3My mouth shall speak wisdom; And the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding. 49:4I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. 49:5Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, When iniquity at my heels compasseth me about? 49:6They that trust in their wealth, And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 49:7None [of them] can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him; 49:8(For the redemption of their life is costly, And it faileth for ever;) 49:9That he should still live alway, That he should not see corruption. 49:10For he shall see it. Wise men die; The fool and the brutish alike perish, And leave their wealth to others. 49:11Their inward thought is, [that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [And] their dwelling-places to all generations; They call their lands after their own names. 49:12But man [being] in honor abideth not: He is like the beasts that perish. 49:13This their way is their folly: Yet after them men approve their sayings. Selah 49:14They are appointed as a flock for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd; And the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; And their beauty shall be for Sheol to consume, That there be no habitation for it. 49:15But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol; For he will receive me. Selah 49:16Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased. 49:17For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him. 49:18Though while he lived he blessed his soul (And men praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself,) 49:19He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They shall never see the light. 49:20Man that is in honor, and understandeth not, Is like the beasts that perish. 50:1The Mighty One, God, Jehovah, hath spoken, And called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. 50:2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined forth. 50:3Our God cometh, and doth not keep silence: A fire devoureth before him, And it is very tempestuous round about him. 50:4He calleth to the heavens above, And to the earth, that he may judge his people: 50:5Gather my saints together unto me, Those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. 50:6And the heavens shall declare his righteousness; For God is judge himself. Selah 50:7Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: I am God, [even] thy God. 50:8I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices; And thy burnt-offerings are continually before me. 50:9I will take no bullock out of thy house, Nor he-goats out of thy folds. 50:10For every beast of the forest is mine, And the cattle upon a thousand hills. 50:11I know all the birds of the mountains; And the wild beasts of the field are mine. 50:12If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; For the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. 50:13Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or drink the blood of goats? 50:14Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving; And pay thy vows unto the Most High: 50:15And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. 50:16But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, And that thou hast taken my covenant in thy mouth, 50:17Seeing thou hatest instruction, And castest my words behind thee? 50:18When thou sawest a thief, thou consentedst with him, And hast been partaker with adulterers. 50:19Thou givest thy mouth to evil, And thy tongue frameth deceit. 50:20Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; Thou slanderest thine own mother`s son. 50:21These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself: [But] I will reprove thee, and set [them] in order before thine eyes. 50:22Now consider this, ye that forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver: 50:23Whoso offereth the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifieth me; And to him that ordereth his way [aright] Will I show the salvation of God. 51:1Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: According to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 51:2Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. 51:3For I know my transgressions; And my sin is ever before me. 51:4Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, And done that which is evil in thy sight; That thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, And be clear when thou judgest. 51:5Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me. 51:6Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts; And in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom. 51:7Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 51:8Make me to hear joy and gladness, That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 51:9Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities. 51:10Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. 51:11Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy Spirit from me. 51:12Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with a willing spirit. 51:13Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And sinners shall be converted unto thee. 51:14Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation; [And] my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. 51:15O Lord, open thou my lips; And my mouth shall show forth thy praise. 51:16For thou delightest not in sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering. 51:17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. 51:18Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: Build thou the walls of Jerusalem. 51:19Then will thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, In burnt-offering and in whole burnt-offering: Then will they offer bullocks upon thine altar. 52:1Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God [endureth] continually. 52:2Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. 52:3Thou lovest evil more than good, And lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah 52:4Thou lovest all devouring words, thou deceitful tongue. 52:5God will likewise destroy thee for ever; He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, And root thee out of the land of the living. Selah 52:6The righteous also shall see [it], and fear, And shall laugh at him, [saying], 52:7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness. 52:8But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever. 52:9I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it; And I will hope in thy name, for it is good, in the presence of thy saints. 53:1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none that doeth good. 53:2God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God. 53:3Every one of them is gone back; they are together become filthy; There is none that doeth good, no, not one. 53:4Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people [as] they eat bread, And call not upon God? 53:5There were they in great fear, where no fear was; For God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: Thou hast put them to shame, because of God hath rejected them. 53:6Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, [and] Israel shall be glad. Psalm 54 For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments.
