52:1Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Hamutal, daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 52:2And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 52:3For, because the anger of Jehovah was against Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. 52:4And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, [that] Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem; and they encamped against it, and built turrets against it round about. 52:5And the city was besieged until the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. 52:6In the fourth month, on the ninth of the month, the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land. 52:7And the city was broken into: and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden (now the Chaldeans were near the city round about); and they went the way toward the plain. 52:8And the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him. 52:9And they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon, unto Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he pronounced judgment upon him. 52:10And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; and he slaughtered also all the princes of Judah in Riblah. 52:11And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with chains of brass; and the king of Babylon carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death. 52:12And in the fifth month, on the tenth of the month, which was in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzar-adan, captain of the body-guard, who stood before the king of Babylon, came unto Jerusalem; 52:13and he burned the house of Jehovah, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem; and every great [man's] house he burned with fire. 52:14And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the body-guard, broke down all the walls of Jerusalem round about. 52:15And Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard carried away captive of the poorest sort of the people, and the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the deserters that had deserted to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude. 52:16But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard left of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for husbandmen. 52:17And the brazen pillars that were in the house of Jehovah, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of Jehovah, the Chaldeans broke up, and carried all the brass thereof to Babylon. 52:18The pots also, and the shovels, and the knives, and the bowls, and the cups, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, they took away. 52:19And the basons and the censers, and the bowls, and the pots, and the candlesticks, and the cups, and the goblets, that which was of gold in gold, and that which was of silver in silver, the captain of the body-guard took away. 52:20The two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve brazen oxen that formed the bases, which king Solomon had made for the house of Jehovah: for the brass of all these vessels there was no weight. 52:21And as to the pillars: the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a line of twelve cubits encompassed it; and the thickness thereof was four fingers: it was hollow. 52:22And the capital upon it was brass, and the height of the one capital [was] five cubits; and the network and the pomegranates, upon the capital round about, all of brass; and similarly for the second pillar, and the pomegranates. 52:23And there were ninety-six pomegranates on the [four] sides; all the pomegranates upon the network were a hundred round about. 52:24And the captain of the body-guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three doorkeepers. 52:25And out of the city he took a eunuch that was set over the men of war, and seven men of them that were in the king's presence, who were found in the city, and the scribe of the captain of the host, who enrolled the people of the land. And sixty men of the people of the land that were found in the midst of the city. 52:26And Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah; 52:27and the king of Babylon smote them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his land. 52:28This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand and twenty-three Jews; 52:29in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar [he carried away captive] from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons; 52:30in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadrezzar, Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons: all the persons were four thousand six hundred. 52:31And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth of the month, [that] Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison; 52:32and he spoke kindly unto him, and set his seat above the seat of the kings that were with him in Babylon. 52:33And he changed his prison garments; and he ate bread before him continually all the days of his life; 52:34and his allowance was a continual allowance given him by the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
Lamentations
1:1How doth the city sit solitary [that] was full of people! She that was great among the nations is become as a widow; the princess among the provinces is become tributary! 1:2She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she hath no comforter; all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies. 1:3Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude; she dwelleth among the nations, she findeth no rest: all her pursuers have overtaken her within the straits. 1:4The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn assembly: all her gates are desolate; her priests sigh, her virgins are in grief; and as for her, she is in bitterness. 1:5Her adversaries have become the head, her enemies prosper; for Jehovah hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the adversary. 1:6And from the daughter of Zion all her splendour is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture; and they are gone without strength before the pursuer. 1:7In the days of her affliction and of her wanderings, since her people fell into the hand of an adversary, and none did help her, Jerusalem remembereth all her precious things which she had in the days of old: the adversaries have seen her, they mock at her ruin. 1:8Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore is she removed as an impurity: all that honoured her despise her because they have seen her nakedness; and she sigheth, and turneth backward. 1:9Her impurity was in her skirts, she remembered not her latter end; and she came down wonderfully: she hath no comforter. Jehovah, behold my affliction; for the enemy hath magnified himself. 1:10The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her precious things; for she hath seen the nations enter into her sanctuary, concerning whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation. 1:11All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their precious things for food to revive [their] soul. See, Jehovah, and consider, for I am become vile. 1:12Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? Behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, whom Jehovah hath afflicted in the day of his fierce anger. 1:13From on high hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them; he hath spread a net for my feet; he hath turned me back; he hath made me desolate [and] faint all the day. 1:14The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, they are come up upon my neck; he hath made my strength to fail; the Lord hath delivered me into hands out of which I am not able to rise up. 1:15The Lord hath cast down all my mighty men in the midst of me; he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men; the Lord hath trodden as a winepress the virgin daughter of Judah. 1:16For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water: for the comforter that should revive my soul is far from me; my children are desolate, for the enemy hath prevailed. 1:17Zion spreadeth forth her hands; there is none to comfort her; Jehovah hath commanded concerning Jacob, [that] his adversaries [should be] round about him; Jerusalem is as an impurity among them. 1:18Jehovah is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment. Hear, I pray you, all ye peoples, and behold my sorrow. My virgins and my young men are gone into captivity. 1:19I called for my lovers, they have deceived me; my priests and mine elders have expired in the city, while they sought them food to revive their soul. 1:20See, Jehovah, for I am in distress, my bowels are troubled; my heart is turned within me, for I have grievously rebelled: without, the sword hath bereaved [me], within, it is as death. 1:21They have heard that I sigh: I have no comforter: all mine enemies have heard of my calamity; they are glad that thou hast done it. Thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me. 1:22Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.
2:1How hath the Lord in his anger covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud! He hath cast down from the heavens unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger. 2:2The Lord hath swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob, and hath not spared; he hath thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah: he hath brought [them] down to the ground; he hath profaned the kingdom and the princes thereof. 2:3He hath cut off in fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath withdrawn his right hand from before the enemy; and he burned up Jacob like a flaming fire, devouring round about. 2:4He hath bent his bow like an enemy; he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and hath slain all that was pleasant to the eye: in the tent of the daughter of Zion, he hath poured out his fury like fire. 2:5The Lord is become as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel; he hath swallowed up all her palaces; he hath destroyed his strongholds, and hath multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation. 2:6And he hath violently cast down his enclosure as a garden; he hath destroyed his place of assembly: Jehovah hath caused set feast and sabbath to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger king and priest. 2:7The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath rejected his sanctuary; he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces: they have made a noise in the house of Jehovah, as on the day of a set feast. 2:8Jehovah hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out the line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying; and he hath made the rampart and the wall to lament: they languish together. 2:9Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the nations: the law is no [more]; her prophets also find no vision from Jehovah. 2:10The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, they keep silence; they have cast dust upon their heads, they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their head to the ground. 2:11Mine eyes are consumed with tears, my bowels are troubled; my liver is poured upon the earth, because of the ruin of the daughter of my people; because infant and suckling swoon in the streets of the city. 2:12They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when they swoon as the wounded in the streets of the city; when they pour out their soul into their mothers' bosom. 2:13What shall I take to witness for thee? what shall I liken unto thee, daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, virgin daughter of Zion? For thy ruin is great as the sea: who will heal thee? 2:14Thy prophets have seen vanity and folly for thee; and they have not revealed thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee burdens of falsehood and causes of expulsion. 2:15All that pass by clap [their] hands at thee; they hiss and shake their head at the daughter of Jerusalem: Is this the city which they called, The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? 2:16All thine enemies open their mouth against thee, they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed [her] up; this is forsooth the day that we looked for: we have found, we have seen [it]. 2:17Jehovah hath done what he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word which he had commanded from the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not spared, and he hath caused the enemy to rejoice over thee; he hath set up the horn of thine adversaries. 2:18Their heart cried unto the Lord. O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a torrent day and night: give thyself no respite; let not the apple of thine eye rest. 2:19Arise, cry out in the night, in the beginning of the watches; pour out thy heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, who faint from hunger at the top of all the streets. 2:20See, Jehovah, and consider to whom thou hast done this! Shall the women eat their fruit, the infants that they nursed? Shall priest and prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord? 2:21The child and the old man lie on the ground in the streets; my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword: thou hast slain [them] in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed, thou hast not spared. 2:22Thou hast called up, as on the day of a set feast, my terrors on every side; and in the day of Jehovah's anger there was none that escaped or remained: those that I have nursed and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.
3:1I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath. 3:2Me hath he led, and brought into darkness, and not into light. 3:3Surely against me hath he turned again and again his hand all the day. 3:4My flesh and my skin hath he wasted away, he hath broken my bones. 3:5He hath built against me, and encompassed [me] with gall and toil. 3:6He hath made me to dwell in dark places as those that have been long dead. 3:7He hath hedged me about that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy. 3:8Even when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer. 3:9He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked. 3:10He is unto me [as] a bear lying in wait, a lion in secret places. 3:11He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate. 3:12He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow. 3:13He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins. 3:14I am become a derision to all my people; their song all the day. 3:15He hath sated me with bitterness, he hath made me drunk with wormwood. 3:16He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes. 3:17And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I have forgotten prosperity. 3:18And I said, My strength is perished, and my hope in Jehovah. 3:19Remember thou mine affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall. 3:20My soul hath [them] constantly in remembrance, and is humbled in me. 3:21This I recall to heart, therefore have I hope. 3:22It is of Jehovah's loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not; 3:23they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 3:24Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 3:25Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him. 3:26It is good that one should both wait, and that in silence, for the salvation of Jehovah. 3:27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth: 3:28He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him; 3:29he putteth his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope; 3:30he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach. 3:31For the Lord will not cast off for ever; 3:32but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses: 3:33for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men. 3:34To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, 3:35to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, 3:36to wrong a man in his cause, will not the Lord see it? 3:37Who is he that saith, and there cometh to pass, what the Lord hath not commanded? 3:38Out of the mouth of the Most High doth not there proceed evil and good? 3:39Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? 3:40Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah. 3:41Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands unto God in the heavens. 3:42We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned. 3:43Thou hast covered thyself with anger, and pursued us; thou hast slain, thou hast not spared. 3:44Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that prayer should not pass through. 3:45Thou hast made us the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples. 3:46All our enemies have opened their mouth against us. 3:47Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and ruin. 3:48Mine eye runneth down with streams of water for the ruin of the daughter of my people. 3:49Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission, 3:50till Jehovah look down and behold from the heavens. 3:51Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city. 3:52They that are mine enemies without cause have chased me sore like a bird. 3:53They have cut off my life in a pit, and cast a stone upon me. 3:54Waters streamed over my head; I said, I am cut off. 3:55I called upon thy name, Jehovah, out of the lowest pit. 3:56Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my sighing, at my cry. 3:57Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee; thou saidst, Fear not. 3:58Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life. 3:59Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause. 3:60Thou hast seen all their vengeance, all their imaginations against me. 3:61Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, all their imaginations against me; 3:62the lips of those that rise up against me and their meditation against me all the day. 3:63Behold thou their sitting down and their rising up: I am their song. 3:64Render unto them a recompence, O Jehovah, according to the work of their hands; 3:65give them obduracy of heart, thy curse unto them; 3:66pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of Jehovah.
4:1How is the gold become dim! the most pure gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary poured out at the top of all the streets! 4:2The sons of Zion, so precious, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! 4:3Even the jackals offer the breast, they give suck to their young; the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness. 4:4The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst; the young children ask bread, no man breaketh it unto them. 4:5They that fed delicately are desolate in the streets; they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dung-hills. 4:6And the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the reward of the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands were violently laid upon her. 4:7Her Nazarites were purer than snow, whiter than milk; they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their figure was as sapphire. 4:8Their visage is darker than blackness, they are not known in the streets; their skin cleaveth to their bones, it is withered, it is become like a stick. 4:9The slain with the sword are happier than the slain with hunger; for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field. 4:10The hands of pitiful women have boiled their own children: they were their meat in the ruin of the daughter of my people. 4:11Jehovah hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath consumed the foundations thereof. 4:12The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should enter into the gates of Jerusalem. 4:13[It is] for the sins of her prophets, [and] the iniquities of her priests, who have shed the blood of the righteous in the midst of her. 4:14They wandered about blind in the streets; they were polluted with blood, so that men could not touch their garments. 4:15They cried unto them, Depart! Unclean! Depart! depart, touch not! When they fled away, and wandered about, it was said among the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there]. 4:16The face of Jehovah hath divided them; he will no more regard them. They respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the aged. 4:17Our eyes still failed for our vain help; in our watching, we have watched for a nation that did not save. 4:18They hunted our steps, that we could not go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come. 4:19Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the heavens; they chased us hotly upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness. 4:20The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Jehovah, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations. 4:21Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz: the cup shall pass also unto thee; thou shalt be drunken, and make thyself naked. 4:22The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity. He will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.
5:1Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us; consider, and see our reproach. 5:2Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens. 5:3We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows. 5:4Our water have we to drink for money, our wood cometh unto us for a price. 5:5Our pursuers are on our necks: we are weary, we have no rest. 5:6We have given the hand to Egypt, [and] to Asshur, to be satisfied with bread. 5:7Our fathers have sinned, [and] they are not; and we bear their iniquities. 5:8Bondmen rule over us: there is no deliverer out of their hand. 5:9We have to get our bread at the risk of our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness. 5:10Our skin gloweth like an oven, because of the burning heat of the famine. 5:11They have ravished the women in Zion, the maids in the cities of Judah. 5:12Princes were hanged up by their hand; the faces of elders were not honoured. 5:13The young men have borne the mill, and the youths have stumbled under the wood. 5:14The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music. 5:15The joy of our heart hath ceased; our dance is turned into mourning. 5:16The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, for we have sinned! 5:17For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes have grown dim, 5:18Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate: foxes walk over it. 5:19Thou, Jehovah, dwellest for ever; thy throne is from generation to generation. 5:20Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, dost thou forsake us so long time? 5:21Turn thou us unto thee, Jehovah, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. 5:22Or is it that thou hast utterly rejected us? Wouldest thou be exceeding wroth against us?
Ezekiel
1:1Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], on the fifth of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. 1:2On the fifth of the month, (it was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,) 1:3the word of Jehovah came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Jehovah was there upon him. 1:4And I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the look of glowing brass, out of the midst of the fire. 1:5Also out of the midst thereof, the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man. 1:6And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings. 1:7And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot; and they sparkled as the look of burnished brass. 1:8And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings: 1:9their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. 1:10And the likeness of their faces was the face of a man; and they four had the face of a lion on the right side; and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four had also the face of an eagle. 1:11And their faces and their wings were parted above; two [wings] of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. 1:12And they went every one straight forward: whither the Spirit was to go, they went; they turned not when they went. 1:13And as for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, as the appearance of torches: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright; and out of the fire went forth lightning. 1:14And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning. 1:15And I looked at the living creatures, and behold, one wheel upon the earth beside the living creatures, toward their four faces. 1:16The appearance of the wheels and their work was as the look of a chrysolite; and they four had one likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. 1:17When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not when they went. 1:18As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and they four had their rims full of eyes round about. 1:19And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. 1:20Whithersoever the Spirit was to go, they went, thither would [their] spirit go; and the wheels were lifted up along with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. 1:21When those went, they went; and when those stood, they stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up along with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. 1:22And there was the likeness of an expanse over the heads of the living creature, as the look of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. 1:23And under the expanse were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two which covered on this side, and every one had two which covered on that side their bodies. 1:24And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, a tumultuous noise, as the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings; 1:25and there was a voice from above the expanse that was over their heads. When they stood, they let down their wings. 1:26And above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 1:27And I saw as the look of glowing brass, as the appearance of fire, within it round about; from the appearance of his loins and upward, and from the appearance of his loins and downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. 1:28As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.
2:1And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak with thee. 2:2And the Spirit entered into me when he spoke unto me, and set me upon my feet; and I heard him that spoke unto me. 2:3And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to nations that are rebellious, which have rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me unto this very day; 2:4and these children are impudent and hard-hearted: I am sending thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah. 2:5And they, whether they will hear or whether they will forbear for they are a rebellious house yet shall they know that there hath been a prophet among them. 2:6And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, and be not afraid of their words; for briars and thorns are with thee, and thou dwellest among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, and be not dismayed at their faces; for they are a rebellious house. 2:7And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear or whether they will forbear; for they are rebellious. 2:8And thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. 2:9And I looked, and behold, a hand was put forth toward me; and behold, a roll of a book therein. 2:10And he spread it out before me; and it was written within and without; and there were written in it lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
3:1And he said unto me, Son of man, eat what thou findest; eat this roll, and go, speak unto the house of Israel. 3:2So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 3:3And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll which I give thee. And I ate, and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. 3:4And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. 3:5For thou art not sent to a people of strange language, and of difficult speech, [but] to the house of Israel; 3:6not to many peoples of strange language and of difficult speech, whose words thou canst not understand: had I sent thee to them, would they not hearken unto thee? 3:7But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee, for none of them will hearken unto me. For all the house of Israel are hard of forehead and stiff of heart. 3:8Behold, I have made thy face hard against their faces, and thy forehead hard against their foreheads. 3:9As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead. Fear them not, neither be dismayed at them, for they are a rebellious house. 3:10And he said unto me, Son of man, all my words which I shall speak unto thee, receive in thy heart, and hear with thine ears; 3:11and go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, whether they will hear or whether they will forbear. 3:12And the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great rushing, [saying,] Blessed be the glory of Jehovah from his place! 3:13and the sound of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of a great rushing. 3:14And the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me. 3:15And I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river Chebar, and I sat where they sat; and I sat there astonied among them seven days. 3:16And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 3:17Son of man, I have appointed thee a watchman unto the house of Israel, and thou shalt hear the word from my mouth, and give them warning from me. 3:18When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt certainly die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, that he may live: the same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand. 3:19But if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. 3:20And when a righteous [man] doth turn from his righteousness, and do what is wrong, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die; because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous acts which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand. 3:21And if thou warn the righteous [man], that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall certainly live, for he hath taken warning; and thou hast delivered thy soul. 3:22And the hand of Jehovah was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the valley, and there I will talk with thee. 3:23And I arose, and went forth into the valley, and behold, the glory of Jehovah stood there, like the glory which I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face. 3:24And the Spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet; and he spoke with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thy house. 3:25And thou, son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee therewith, and thou shalt not go out among them. 3:26And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover; for they are a rebellious house. 3:27And when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.
4:1And thou, son of man, take thee a brick, and lay it before thee, and portray upon it a city, Jerusalem: 4:2and lay siege against it, and build forts against it, and cast a mound against it, and set camps against it, and place battering-rams against it round about. 4:3And take thou unto thee an iron plate, and put it [for] a wall of iron between thee and the city; and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it: this shall be a sign to the house of Israel. 4:4And thou, lie upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: the number of the days that thou liest upon it, thou shalt bear their iniquity. 4:5And I have appointed thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. 4:6And when thou hast accomplished them, thou shalt lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year. 4:7And thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt prophesy against it. 4:8And behold, I lay bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn thyself from one side to the other, till thou hast ended the days of thy siege. 4:9And thou, take unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, [according to] the number of the days that thou liest upon thy side: three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof. 4:10And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it. 4:11And thou shalt drink water by measure, the sixth part of a hin: from time to time shalt thou drink. 4:12And thou shalt eat it [as] barley-cake, and thou shalt bake it in their sight with dung that cometh out of man. 4:13And Jehovah said, So shall the children of Israel eat their bread unclean among the nations whither I will drive them. 4:14Then said I, Ah, Lord Jehovah! behold, my soul hath not been defiled, and from my youth up even until now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or of that which is torn; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth. 4:15And he said unto me, See, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith. 4:16And he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I break the staff of bread in Jerusalem; and they shall eat bread by weight, and with anxiety; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment: 4:17because bread and water shall fail them, and they shall be astonied one with another, and waste away in their iniquity.
5:1And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife; a barber's razor shalt thou take; and cause it to pass upon thy head and upon thy beard: and thou shalt take balances to weigh, and divide the [hair]. 5:2A third part shalt thou burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and thou shalt take a third part, [and] smite about it with a knife; and a third part thou shalt scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them. 5:3And thou shalt take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts; 5:4and thou shalt take of these again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire: from it shall a fire come forth against all the house of Israel. 5:5Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: This is Jerusalem: I have set her in the midst of the nations, and the countries are round about her. 5:6And she hath rebelled against my judgments in wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for mine ordinances have they refused; and my statutes, they have not walked in them. 5:7Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have been turbulent more than the nations that are round about you, [and] have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept mine ordinances, nor [even] have done according to the ordinances of the nations that are round about you; 5:8therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations; 5:9and I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations. 5:10Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter to all the winds. 5:11Wherefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, verily because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also withdraw mine eye, and it shall not spare, nor will I have any pity. 5:12A third part of thee shall die by the pestilence, and shall be consumed by the famine in the midst of thee; and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. 5:13And mine anger shall be accomplished, and I will satisfy my fury upon them, and I will comfort myself; and they shall know that I Jehovah have spoken in my jealousy, when I have accomplished my fury upon them. 5:14And I will make thee a waste and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by. 5:15And it shall be a reproach, and a taunt, an instruction, and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments upon thee in anger, and in fury, and in furious rebukes: I, Jehovah, have spoken. 5:16When I send upon them the evil arrows of famine, that are for [their] destruction, which I send to destroy you, then will I increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread. 5:17And I will send upon you famine and evil beasts, which shall bereave thee of children; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee: I, Jehovah, have spoken.
6:1And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 6:2Son of man, set thy face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them, 6:3and say, Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: thus saith the Lord Jehovah to the mountains and to the hills, to the water-courses and to the valleys: Behold, I, [even] I, do bring a sword upon you, and will destroy your high places. 6:4And your altars shall be desolate, and your sun-images shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain [men] before your idols; 6:5and I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars. 6:6In all your dwelling-places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun-images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished. 6:7And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah. 6:8Yet will I leave a remnant, in that ye shall have some escaped from the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries. 6:9And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they have been carried captives, when I shall have broken their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols; and they shall loathe themselves for the evils which they have committed, in all their abominations. 6:10And they shall know that I [am] Jehovah: I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them. 6:11Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Smite with thy hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say, Alas for all the abominations of the iniquities of the house of Israel! for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. 6:12He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that is left, and is besieged, shall die by the famine: and I will accomplish my fury upon them. 6:13And ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah, when their slain shall be among their idols, round about their altars, upon every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick terebinth, the places where they offered sweet savour to all their idols. 6:14And I will stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness of Diblath, in all their dwellings; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
7:1And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 7:2And thou, son of man, thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto the land of Israel: An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land. 7:3Now is the end upon thee; and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will bring upon thee all thine abominations. 7:4And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity; but I will bring thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah. 7:5Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An evil, an only evil! behold, it is come. 7:6The end is come, the end is come; it awaketh against thee: behold, it cometh. 7:7The doom is come unto thee, inhabitant of the land; the time is come, the day is near, tumult, and not the joyous cry from the mountains. 7:8Now will I soon pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger against thee; and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will bring upon thee all thine abominations. 7:9And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will render unto thee according to thy ways, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that it is I, Jehovah, that smite. 7:10Behold the day, behold, it is come: the doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride is full blown. 7:11Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: nothing of them [shall remain], nor of their multitude, nor of their wealth, nor of the magnificence in the midst of them. 7:12The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for fierce anger is upon all the multitude thereof. 7:13For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, even though he were yet alive amongst the living: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof; it shall not be revoked; and none shall through his iniquity assure his life. 7:14They have blown the trumpet and made all ready, but none goeth to the battle; for my fierce anger is upon all the multitude thereof. 7:15The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die by the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him. 7:16And they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one for his iniquity. 7:17All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall melt into water. 7:18And they shall gird on sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads. 7:19They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be as an impurity: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah's wrath; they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their belly; for it hath been the stumbling-block of their iniquity. 7:20And he set in majesty his beautiful ornament; but they made therein the images of their abominations [and] of their detestable things: therefore have I made it an impurity unto them. 7:21And I will give it into the hands of strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane it. 7:22And I will turn my face from them; and they shall profane my secret [place]; and the violent shall enter into it, and profane it. 7:23Make the chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence. 7:24Therefore will I bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses; and I will make the pride of the strong to cease; and their sanctuaries shall be profaned. 7:25Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, but there shall be none. 7:26Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; and they shall seek a vision from a prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders. 7:27The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with dismay, and the hands of the people of the land shall tremble: I will do unto them according to their way, and with their judgments will I judge them; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
8:1And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth [month], on the fifth of the month, that [as] I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, the hand of the Lord Jehovah fell there upon me. 8:2And I looked, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire; from the appearance of his loins and downward, fire; and from his loins and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the look of glowing brass. 8:3And he stretched forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heavens, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entry of the inner gate that looketh toward the north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy. 8:4And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the valley. 8:5And he said unto me, Son of man, lift up now thine eyes toward the north. And I lifted up mine eyes toward the north, and behold, northward of the gate of the altar, this image of jealousy in the entry. 8:6And he said unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, to cause [me] to go far off from my sanctuary? And yet again thou shalt see great abominations. 8:7And he brought me to the entry of the court, and I looked, and behold, a hole in the wall. 8:8And he said unto me, Son of man, dig now through the wall; and I digged through the wall, and behold, a door. 8:9And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. 8:10And I went in and looked, and behold, every form of creeping thing and abominable beast, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about. 8:11And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. 8:12And he said unto me, Hast thou seen, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every one in his chambers of imagery? for they say, Jehovah seeth us not; Jehovah hath forsaken the land. 8:13And he said unto me, Yet again thou shalt see great abominations which they do. 8:14And he brought me to the entry of the gate of Jehovah's house that was toward the north; and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. 8:15And he said unto me, Seest thou, son of man? Thou shalt yet again see greater abominations than these. 8:16And he brought me into the inner court of Jehovah's house, and behold, at the entry of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of Jehovah and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. 8:17And he said unto me, Seest thou, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here, that they yet fill the land with violence, and keep provoking me afresh to anger? And behold, they put the branch to their nose. 8:18And I also will deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.
9:1And he cried in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Draw near, ye that have charge of the city, and every man [with] his destroying weapon in his hand. 9:2And behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which is turned toward the north, and every man [with] his slaughter weapon in his hand; and in the midst of them, one man clothed with linen, with a writer's ink-horn by his side; and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar. 9:3And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house; and he called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's ink-horn by his side; 9:4and Jehovah said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that are done in the midst thereof. 9:5And to the others he said in my hearing, Go after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have pity. 9:6Slay utterly the old man, the young man, and the maiden, and little children, and women; but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the elders who were before the house. 9:7And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go forth. And they went forth, and smote in the city. 9:8And it came to pass, while they were smiting, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! wilt thou destroy all the remnant of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem? 9:9And he said unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness; for they say, Jehovah hath forsaken the earth, and Jehovah seeth not. 9:10And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense their way upon their head. 9:11And behold, the man clothed with linen, who had the ink-horn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.
10:1And I looked, and behold, in the expanse that was over the head of the cherubim there appeared above them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 10:2And he spoke unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Come in between the wheels, under the cherub, and fill the hollow of thy hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight. 10:3And the cherubim stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. 10:4And the glory of Jehovah mounted up from the cherub, [and came] over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of Jehovah's glory. 10:5And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh. 10:6And it came to pass when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim, then he went in, and stood beside the wheel. 10:7And the cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim, and took and put it into the hands of him [that was] clothed with linen; who took [it], and went out. 10:8And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man's hand under their wings. 10:9And I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside one cherub, and another wheel beside another cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was as the look of a chrysolite stone. 10:10And as for their appearance, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel were in the midst of a wheel. 10:11When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it: they turned not as they went. 10:12And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes round about, in them four [and] their wheels. 10:13As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing, Galgal. 10:14And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. 10:15And the cherubim mounted up. This was the living creature that I saw by the river Chebar. 10:16And when the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them. 10:17When they stood, these stood; and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in them. 10:18And the glory of Jehovah departed from over the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim. 10:19And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight, when they went out; and the wheels were beside them; and they stood at the door of the east gate of Jehovah's house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. 10:20This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim. 10:21Each one had four faces, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. 10:22And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the faces which I had seen by the river Chebar their appearance and themselves: they went every one straight before them.
11:1And the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of Jehovah's house, which looketh eastward; and behold, at the door of the gate were five and twenty men; and I saw in the midst of them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. 11:2And he said unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and give wicked counsel in this city: 11:3who say, It is not the time to build houses: this is the cauldron, and we are the flesh. 11:4Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, son of man. 11:5And the Spirit of Jehovah fell on me, and said unto me, Speak, Thus saith Jehovah: Thus have ye said, O house of Israel; and the things that come into your mind, I know them. 11:6Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain. 11:7Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and it is the cauldron; but you will I bring forth out of the midst of it. 11:8Ye have feared the sword, and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord Jehovah. 11:9And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and give you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you. 11:10Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the borders of Israel; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah. 11:11This shall not be your cauldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst of it: I will judge you in the borders of Israel; 11:12and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah, in whose statutes ye have not walked, neither have done mine ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you. 11:13And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. And I fell down on my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel? 11:14And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 11:15Son of man, [it is] thy brethren, thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel, the whole of it, unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem say, Get you far from Jehovah: unto us is this land given for a possession. 11:16Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Although I have removed them far off among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries whither they are come. 11:17Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will even gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where ye are scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. 11:18And they shall come thither, and they shall take away from thence all its detestable things and all its abominations. 11:19And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh; 11:20that they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 11:21But as for them whose heart walketh well-pleased with their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their heads, saith the Lord Jehovah. 11:22And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and the wheels were beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. 11:23And the glory of Jehovah went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city. 11:24And the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity; and the vision that I had seen went up from me. 11:25And I spoke unto them of the captivity all the things that Jehovah had shewn me.
12:1And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 12:2Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not, which have ears to hear, and hear not; for they are a rebellious house. 12:3And thou, son of man, prepare thee a captive's baggage, and go captive by day in their sight; and thou shalt go captive from thy place to another place in their sight. It may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house. 12:4And bring forth thy baggage by day in their sight, as a captive's baggage, and thou thyself, go forth at even in their sight as they that go forth into captivity. 12:5Dig thou through the wall in their sight, and carry out thereby. 12:6In their sight shalt thou bear [it] upon [thy] shoulder, and carry it forth in the dark; thou shalt cover thy face, and thou shalt not see the ground: for I have appointed thee for a sign unto the house of Israel. 12:7And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my baggage by day, as a captive's baggage, and in the even I digged through the wall with my hand; I brought it forth in the dark, [and] bore it upon [my] shoulder, in their sight. 12:8And in the morning the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 12:9Son of man, hath not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said unto thee, What doest thou? 12:10Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: This burden [concerneth] the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel that are among them. 12:11Say, I am your sign: as I have done, so shall it be done unto them: they shall go into exile, into captivity. 12:12And the prince that is among them shall bear upon [his] shoulder in the dark, and shall go forth; they shall dig through the wall to carry out thereby; he shall cover his face, that he see not the land with [his] eyes. 12:13And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare; and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; but he shall not see it, and there shall he die. 12:14And I will scatter toward every wind all that are about him to help him, and all his troops; and I will draw out the sword after them. 12:15And they shall know that I [am] Jehovah when I shall scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries. 12:16But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the nations whither they shall come; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah. 12:17And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, 12:18Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking, and drink thy water with trembling and with anxiety; 12:19and say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water with astonishment, because her land shall be left desolate of all that is in it, for the violence of all them that dwell therein. 12:20And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be a desolation; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah. 12:21And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 12:22Son of man, what is that proverb which ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days shall be prolonged, and every vision faileth? 12:23Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say unto them, The days are at hand, and the accomplishment of every vision. 12:24For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination in the midst of the house of Israel. 12:25For I [am] Jehovah; I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall be performed, it shall be no more deferred. For in your days, O rebellious house, will I speak the word and will perform it, saith the Lord Jehovah. 12:26And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 12:27Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days, and he prophesieth of times that are far off. 12:28Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: There shall none of my words be deferred any more, but the word that I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.
