^17:1And one of the seven angels, which had the seven bowls, came and spoke with me, saying, Come here, I will shew thee the sentence of the great harlot who sits upon the many waters; ^17:2with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication; and they that dwell on the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. ^17:3And he carried me away in spirit to a desert; and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. ^17:4And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and had ornaments of gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and the unclean things of her fornication; ^17:5and upon her forehead a name written, Mystery, great Babylon, the mother of the harlots, and of the abominations of the earth. ^17:6And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I wondered, seeing her, with great wonder. ^17:7And the angel said to me, Why hast thou wondered? *I* will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast which carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. ^17:8The beast which thou sawest was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go into destruction: and they who dwell on the earth, whose names are not written from the founding of the world in the book of life, shall wonder, seeing the beast, that it was, and is not, and shall be present. ^17:9Here is the mind that has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains, whereon the woman sits. ^17:10And there are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes he must remain [only] a little while. ^17:11And the beast that was and is not, he also is an eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into destruction. ^17:12And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have not yet received a kingdom, but receive authority as kings one hour with the beast. ^17:13These have one mind, and give their power and authority to the beast. ^17:14These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them; for he is Lord of lords and King of kings: and they [that are] with him called, and chosen, and faithful. ^17:15And he says to me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. ^17:16And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her with fire; ^17:17for God has given to their hearts to do his mind, and to act with one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast until the words of God shall be fulfilled. ^17:18And the woman which thou sawest is the great city, which has kingship over the kings of the earth.

^18:1After these things I saw another angel descending out of the heaven, having great authority: and the earth was lightened with his glory. ^18:2And he cried with a strong voice, saying, Great Babylon has fallen, has fallen, and has become the habitation of demons, and a hold of every unclean spirit, and a hold of every unclean and hated bird; ^18:3because all the nations have drunk of the wine of the fury of her fornication; and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have been enriched through the might of her luxury. ^18:4And I heard another voice out of the heaven saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye have not fellowship in her sins, and that ye do not receive of her plagues: ^18:5for her sins have been heaped on one another up to the heaven, and God has remembered her unrighteousnesses. ^18:6Recompense her even as she has recompensed; and double [to her] double, according to her works. In the cup which she has mixed, mix to her double. ^18:7So much as she has glorified herself and lived luxuriously, so much torment and grief give to her. Because she says in her heart, I sit a queen, and I am not a widow; and I shall in no wise see grief: ^18:8for this reason in one day shall her plagues come, death and grief and famine, and she shall be burnt with fire; for strong [is the] Lord God who has judged her. ^18:9And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication, and lived luxuriously with her, shall weep and wail over her, when they see the smoke of her burning, ^18:10standing afar off, through fear of her torment, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour thy judgment is come. ^18:11And the merchants of the earth weep and grieve over her, because no one buys their lading any more; ^18:12lading of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and pearl, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet dye, and all thyine wood, and every article in ivory, and every article in most precious wood, and in brass, and in iron, and in marble, ^18:13and cinnamon, and amomum, and incense, and unguent, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep, and of horses, and of chariots, and of bodies, and souls of men. ^18:14And the ripe fruits which were the lust of thy soul have departed from thee, and all fair and splendid things have perished from thee, and they shall not find them any more at all. ^18:15The merchants of these things, who had been enriched through her, shall stand afar off through fear of her torment, weeping and grieving, ^18:16saying, Woe, woe, the great city, which [was] clothed with fine linen and purple and scarlet, and had ornaments of gold and precious stones and pearls! ^18:17for in one hour so great riches has been made desolate. And every steersman, and every one who sailed to any place, and sailors, and all who exercise their calling on the sea, stood afar off, ^18:18and cried, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, What [city] is like to the great city? ^18:19and cast dust upon their heads, and cried, weeping and grieving, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, in which all that had ships in the sea were enriched through her costliness! for in one hour she has been made desolate. ^18:20Rejoice over her, heaven, and [ye] saints and apostles and prophets; for God has judged your judgment upon her. ^18:21And a strong angel took up a stone, as a great millstone, and cast [it] into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall Babylon the great city be cast down, and shall be found no more at all; ^18:22and voice of harp-singers and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters shall not be heard any more at all in thee, and no artificer of any art shall be found any more at all in thee, and voice of millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee, ^18:23and light of lamp shall shine no more at all in thee, and voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard no more at all in thee; for thy merchants were the great ones of the earth; for by thy sorcery have all the nations been deceived. ^18:24And in her was found [the] blood of prophets and saints, and of all the slain upon the earth.

^19:1After these things I heard as a loud voice of a great multitude in the heaven, saying, Hallelujah: the salvation and the glory and the power of our God: ^19:2for true and righteous [are] his judgments; for he has judged the great harlot which corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his bondmen at her hand. ^19:3And a second time they said, Hallelujah. And her smoke goes up to the ages of ages. ^19:4And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and did homage to God who sits upon the throne, saying, Amen, Hallelujah. ^19:5And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his bondmen, [and] ye that fear him, small and great. ^19:6And I heard as a voice of a great crowd, and as a voice of many waters, and as a voice of strong thunders, saying, Hallelujah, for [the] Lord our God the Almighty has taken to himself kingly power. ^19:7Let us rejoice and exult, and give him glory; for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready. ^19:8And it was given to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, bright [and] pure; for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the saints. ^19:9And he says to me, Write, Blessed [are] they who are called to the supper of the marriage of the Lamb. And he says to me, These are the true words of God. ^19:10And I fell before his feet to do him homage. And he says to me, See [thou do it] not. I am thy fellow-bondman, and [the fellow-bondman] of thy brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Do homage to God. For the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. ^19:11And I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and one sitting on it, [called] Faithful and True, and he judges and makes war in righteousness. ^19:12And his eyes are a flame of fire, and upon his head many diadems, having a name written which no one knows but himself; ^19:13and [he is] clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and his name is called The Word of God. ^19:14And the armies which [are] in the heaven followed him upon white horses, clad in white, pure, fine linen. ^19:15And out of his mouth goes a sharp [two-edged] sword, that with it he might smite the nations; and he shall shepherd them with an iron rod; and he treads the wine-press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. ^19:16And he has upon his garment, and upon his thigh, a name written, King of kings, and Lord of lords. ^19:17And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid-heaven, Come, gather yourselves to the great supper of God, ^19:18that ye may eat flesh of kings, and flesh of chiliarchs, and flesh of strong men, and flesh of horses and of those that sit upon them, and flesh of all, both free and bond, and small and great. ^19:19And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against him that sat upon the horse, and against his army. ^19:20And the beast was taken, and the false prophet that [was] with him, who wrought the signs before him by which he deceived them that received the mark of the beast, and those that worship his image. Alive were both cast into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone; ^19:21and the rest were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which goes out of his mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

^20:1And I saw an angel descending from the heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain in his hand. ^20:2And he laid hold of the dragon, the ancient serpent who is [the] devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, ^20:3and cast him into the abyss, and shut [it] and sealed [it] over him, that he should not any more deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be loosed for a little time. ^20:4And I saw thrones; and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them; and the souls of those beheaded on account of the testimony of Jesus, and on account of the word of God; and those who had not done homage to the beast nor to his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and hand; and they lived and reigned with the Christ a thousand years: ^20:5the rest of the dead did not live till the thousand years had been completed. This [is] the first resurrection. ^20:6Blessed and holy he who has part in the first resurrection: over these the second death has no power; but they shall be priests of God and of the Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. ^20:7And when the thousand years have been completed, Satan shall be loosed from his prison, ^20:8and shall go out to deceive the nations which [are] in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war, whose number [is] as the sand of the sea. ^20:9And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city: and fire came down [from God] out of the heaven and devoured them. ^20:10And the devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where [are] both the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for the ages of ages. ^20:11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled, and place was not found for them. ^20:12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is [that] of life. And the dead were judged out of the things written in the books according to their works. ^20:13And the sea gave up the dead which [were] in it, and death and hades gave up the dead which [were] in them; and they were judged each according to their works: ^20:14and death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, [even] the lake of fire. ^20:15And if any one was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

^21:1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea exists no more. ^21:2And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of the heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. ^21:3And I heard a loud voice out of the heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he shall tabernacle with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, their God. ^21:4And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall not exist any more, nor grief, nor cry, nor distress shall exist any more, for the former things have passed away. ^21:5And he that sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he says [to me], Write, for these words are true and faithful. ^21:6And he said to me, It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to him that thirsts of the fountain of the water of life freely. ^21:7He that overcomes shall inherit these things, and I will be to him God, and he shall be to me son. ^21:8But to the fearful and unbelieving, [and sinners], and those who make themselves abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part [is] in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone; which is the second death. ^21:9And there came one of the seven angels which had had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and spoke with me, saying, Come here, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. ^21:10And he carried me away in [the] Spirit, [and set me] on a great and high mountain, and shewed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of the heaven from God, ^21:11having the glory of God. Her shining [was] like a most precious stone, as a crystal-like jasper stone; ^21:12having a great and high wall; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names inscribed, which are those of the twelve tribes of [the] sons of Israel. ^21:13On [the] east three gates; and on [the] north three gates; and on [the] south three gates; and on [the] west three gates. ^21:14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ^21:15And he that spoke with me had a golden reed [as] a measure, that he might measure the city, and its gates, and its wall. ^21:16And the city lies four-square, and its length [is] as much as the breadth. And he measured the city with the reed twelve thousand stadia: the length and the breadth and height of it are equal. ^21:17And he measured its wall, a hundred [and] forty-four cubits, [a] man's measure, that is, [the] angel's. ^21:18And the building of its wall [was] jasper; and the city pure gold, like pure glass: ^21:19the foundations of the wall of the city [were] adorned with every precious stone: the first foundation, jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; ^21:20the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. ^21:21And the twelve gates, twelve pearls; each one of the gates, respectively, was of one pearl; and the street of the city pure gold, as transparent glass. ^21:22And I saw no temple in it; for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, and the Lamb. ^21:23And the city has no need of the sun nor of the moon, that they should shine for it; for the glory of God has enlightened it, and the lamp thereof [is] the Lamb. ^21:24And the nations shall walk by its light; and the kings of the earth bring their glory to it. ^21:25And its gates shall not be shut at all by day, for night shall not be there. ^21:26And they shall bring the glory and the honour of the nations to it. ^21:27And nothing common, nor that maketh an abomination and a lie, shall at all enter into it; but those only who [are] written in the book of life of the Lamb.

^22:1And he shewed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, going out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. ^22:2In the midst of its street, and of the river, on this side and on that side, [the] tree of life, producing twelve fruits, in each month yielding its fruit; and the leaves of the tree for healing of the nations. ^22:3And no curse shall be any more; and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him, ^22:4and they shall see his face; and his name [is] on their foreheads. ^22:5And night shall not be any more, and no need of a lamp, and light of [the] sun; for [the] Lord God shall shine upon them, and they shall reign to the ages of ages. ^22:6And he said to me, These words [are] faithful and true; and [the] Lord God of the spirits of the prophets has sent his angel to shew to his bondmen the things which must soon come to pass. ^22:7And behold, I come quickly. Blessed [is] he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. ^22:8And I, John, [was] he who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to do homage before the feet of the angel who shewed me these things. ^22:9And he says to me, See [thou do it] not. I am thy fellow-bondman, and [the fellow-bondman] of thy brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Do homage to God. ^22:10And he says to me, Seal not the words of the prophecy of this book. The time is near. ^22:11Let him that does unrighteously do unrighteously still; and let the filthy make himself filthy still; and let him that is righteous practise righteousness still; and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still. ^22:12Behold, I come quickly, and my reward with me, to render to every one as his work shall be. ^22:13*I* [am] the Alpha and the Omega, [the] first and [the] last, the beginning and the end. ^22:14Blessed [are] they that wash their robes, that they may have right to the tree of life, and that they should go in by the gates into the city. ^22:15Without [are] the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loves and makes a lie. ^22:16*I* Jesus have sent mine angel to testify these things to you in the assemblies. *I* am the root and offspring of David, the bright [and] morning star. ^22:17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come; he that will, let him take [the] water of life freely. ^22:18*I* testify to every one who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If any one shall add to these things, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book. ^22:19And if any one take from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book. ^22:20He that testifies these things says, Yea, I come quickly. Amen; come, Lord Jesus. ^22:21The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with all the saints.
